MEDITATIONS
Reading:
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, is not rude, does not seek its own interests, is not quick- tempered, does not brood over injury, does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. I Corinthians 13:4-8
Prayer:
I have a tendency to read over too quickly words for which I think the meaning is clear. What can you tell me about this scripture reading that I might miss?
Response:
It is not that you miss the meaning, but sometimes do not take the words and apply them to your life in relationship. These words are not meant as an indictment, but as guidance for each relationship new or sustained and the meaning reaches across to the full experience of love in relationship with a special person, a child, a grandchild, a friend, a passing acquaintance, a colleague. These words form a code of behavior motivated by love and consideration for and interest in that Other.
