Scripture: As for me, I am already being poured out in sacrifice and the time of my deliverance is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-7

Prayer: I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. How could I not reflect in my youth being in the closing strokes of a close race on the water, in a shell with close teammates with whom I practiced arduously for months awaiting this opportunity. The water flowing past my window this morning brings alive this memory, and Paul’s words reach me deeply.

Response: Without being too dramatic, your presence and awareness of your surroundings and those you encounter and with whom you communicate contribute to your good fight. You might be surprised, but reflection and prayer contribute to your preparedness, just as miles rowing previously when you were younger prepared you for racing.

Paul dignifies the art and endurance of racing as he reflects in the Lord’s grace and love his conversion and dedication to the Lord’s love, mercy, and forgiveness.  His anointed words touch you and color the tapestry of your life with the sparkle of the Lord’s presence in your life.

Take your thought this morning to the unsuspecting, who hold an oar but still wonder its purpose. Encourage those who have journeyed long to ready themselves for the race of their lives in the fulness of the Lord’s love. Praise God!

All for this morning.
