Meditation — May 3, 2018

Scripture: Jesus said: “I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father too.  From this moment, you know him and have seen him.” John 14:6-7

Prayer: While I was reflecting on these verses, a small fishing vessel drifted past my window, heading north up the canal. If you know me, you will know my Father too. The vessel is now out of sight, though I am still inclined to follow it.

Response: What more do you seek, but direction, heart-truth, and buoyancy in being? Have you yet realized that you have been swimming in deep waters for years? You could hardly have continued without the stamina you have achieved in the Lord’s grace, in the sense of direction that you have acquired, and in your deepening intimacy with the Lord.

What an analogy to consider than your seemingly endless trek through the Himalayas many years ago, following the Tibetan porters step by step, the respect you gained for their knowledge—even wisdom, and the rapture of life experienced at the heights seemingly towering over all creation.

Each day you indeed are setting out. Your day is framed by loved ones you encounter and to whom you make yourself available, as well as those who “happen” on your path, knowing that there are no coincidences, and your creative projects. Bless the Lord as you just now spot again the fishing vessel, still barely visible, at the top of the canal. Praise God!

All for this morning.
