Meditation–April 13, 2018

Posted on Friday, April 13th, 2018

Scripture: “Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and acts on them—I will show you what such a person is like. Such a person is like the man who, when he built a house, dug, and dug, deep, and laid the foundations on rock; when the river was in flood it bore down on that house but could not shake it, it was so well built.” Luke 6:47-48

Prayer: After almost a century of my prayer—I tend to exaggerate—these verses are especially meaningful to me, as I can still recall vividly our stay in a hut built on rock in Malaysia so many years ago when a terrific storm struck, yet we remained safe. Continue to teach me, Lord, to trust.

Response: You don’t need to travel 12,000 miles to feel overwhelmed by external conditions—whatever they may be and however often they may strike. However, it is along the deep interior corridors of your heart that you can always experience His peace, calm, assurance, and strength.

Recall the Lord’s words—I will show you–the next time you are stressed; retreat within and discover the truth of the Lord’s words in the surprising peace you experience.

Now, see if you can witness that peace the next time you encounter a loved one or stranger who must also discover the staircase within. Praise the Lord!

All for this morning.
