Meditation–January 10, 2018

Posted on Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

Scripture: Peter was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from the cloud came a voice which said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favor. Listen to him.” When they heard this, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear. But Jesus came up and touched them, saying, “Stand up, do not be afraid.” And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but Jesus. Matthew 17:5-8

Prayer: As I raise my eyes above the frozen canal and emptiness, I can still hear Jesus’ words as transmitted by Matthew over two thousand years ago. All my concerns—real and imagined—evaporate in the Lord’s touch.

Response: Yes, keep in your heart the Lord’s touch which was as deliberate as the touch you experience this morning. It is no accident that these familiar scriptural verses just happened to come to you this morning. In the Lord’s presence and attention, there are no accidents.

All that is required is that you release all anxiety and concern, listen breathless, and be ready to feel His touch that never fails in whatever your circumstances.

But listen further, the Lord hears your voiceless prayers for loved ones and friends who seem to be stretched beyond their capacity—and He will minister and heal them in addition. The Lord will hearten them with bold courage and confidence, without diminishing their capacity to serve others despite their concerns. Listen deeply to the Lord this day. Praise God!

All for this morning.
