Scripture: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that bears no fruit he cuts away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes to make it bear even more. You are clean already by means of the word that I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I in you.” John 15:1-3

Prayer: With the final edit of my new book, I found myself diligently working long after midnight. The deletions and the revisions, and the fatigue I feel now are all the effect of the pruning I am administering, and serve to remind me of the “editing” I continue to receive from the Lord long after I would have hoped to be “published,” but it seems there is still work to be done—and I am not surprised.

Response: While it might seem to you a never ending process—that is the Lord’s editing of your life, you surely acknowledge that the “revision” is producing in you compassion, love, service, deep prayer, acceptance, and, almost above all the previous, optimism and joy in the Lord’s grace and love.

Who could have imagined—and least of all you—the rough draft of your youth is evolving into quite a gripping tale that you can hardly imagine that you have been working on  the Lord’s grace for three quarters of a century and is not yet complete. In fact, the later chapters are demanngd your full attention in the solitude you have discovered.

Thank the Lord in His grace and love for never giving up on the draft that is you and the loved ones for whom you pray. Praise God!

All for this morning.
