But the souls of the upright are in the hands of God, and no torment can touch them. To the unenlightened, they appeared to die, their departure was regarded as a disaster, their leaving us like an annihilation; but they are at peace. Wisdom 3:1-3

These words of scripture give me comfort and security as I pray each day for those who have departed. Oh, the trauma of loss, and then in the fullness of time relief, much like bidding a loved one farewell on an intercontinental trip and hearing that they arrived safely—and on time.

Ponder these words of scripture from this side of the veil with confidence and faith measured in the spectacular sunrise you observed this morning, in the contact that you have with loved ones on a frequent basis, in the prayers you whisper for those same loved ones and for the resolution of the chaos you do experience.
No torment can touch them—they are at peace. Can you feel the tightened of your hands and the shortness of breath are replaced by a depth of perception of insight, perhaps reserved for those with hands lined from age? Can you feel the smile emerging from within prompted by your faith and confidence that all is well with them?
See if today you can make a special effort to be at peace in the Lord’s comfort and healing in whatever your circumstances. Don’t be surprised if you experience unbounded joy before the setting of the sun. Praise God!
All for this morning.
