Scripture:

There is a season for everything: A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted. A time for killing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building. A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing. A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain from embracing. A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding. A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking. A time for loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Prayer:

As there is a season, there was a time—I arrived at the beach precisely as a large pod of dolphin was heading south about 75 yards from the shore. Lord, let me be in rhythm with the time that is allotted to me and my loved ones.

Response:

If you were in the audience—and you are—you would have noticed the rhythm in your own life from birth, death, joy, sorrow-grief, and love. And what have you learned from being a sometimes involuntary witness, or even participant in the events of life and death?

Don’t you have a tendency to divide the events into two columns—birth is one and death . . . the second, building . . . tearing down, etc. Oh, if you could only select the life experience by remaining in column one. But, would you?

Consider what you have learned of love in the loss of a dear one, the depth of tears fostering full laughter in its time, pursuit of a worthy goal when a dream was quashed; And silence—have you discovered this precious gem as you gazed at a pod of dolphin passing as it head south? Praise God!

All for this morning.
