Meditation — May 14, 2012

Scripture:

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:8

Prayer:

Looking through my window onto the canal in the gray light, what would make me think that soon the sun will rise—though it is supposed to be a cloudy and rainy day—except that it always happens? Doesn’t the same occur when I pray consciously and my prayer is miraculously answered, just as the sun also rises?

Response

The more complex the situation for which one asks healing, redemption, understanding, clarity, the more radiant the sunrise that appears, thus quelling all doubt, yes all doubt, in its blaze. If it is during a time of loss, the gap remaining is filled to overflowing with love resplendent, in illness . . . recovery in wise understanding and acceptance, in anxious times—peace and serenity, when beleaguered—resources and reinforcements from unexpected quarters, impatient—a hint of eternity, for the plight of another—a holy reassurance.

This verse describes a journey, a pilgrimage—a movement forward with confidence. Though there are times when the landscape is hostile with inexplicable sufferings experienced personally or by a loved one, be assured that His healing presence accompanies and protects one from unseen snares and despair. Hasn’t this always happened to the soulful traveler who trusts in the Lord on this journey?

Let go—yield—to His holy will and discover a dimension of time that transcends this idle moment like a sunrise that bursts through the clouds and dries the tears shed, dismisses hopelessness with understanding, and offers a clarity to life that one might have missed earlier before the healing received quickly appeared.

All for this morning.
